    Residential Tenancy Branch

    RTB (British Columbia)

British Columbia's body for resolving residential tenancy disputes.

The Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB) is British Columbia's equivalent of Ontario's LTB: it administers BC's Residential Tenancy Act and resolves disputes between landlords and tenants through dispute resolution hearings. Each province has its own tenancy law and body (Ontario's LTB, BC's RTB, Alberta's RTDRS, and others), so notice forms, deposit rules, and processes differ by province. Always work from your own province's rules.

General information only, not legal, tax, or financial advice. Rules change and vary by province; confirm the current details with the relevant authority before you rely on them.
