    Landlord and Tenant Board

    LTB

Ontario's tribunal that resolves residential landlord-tenant disputes.

The Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) is the Ontario tribunal that decides residential tenancy disputes under the Residential Tenancies Act, from evictions and rent arrears to maintenance and illegal charges. A landlord generally cannot evict a tenant on their own; they file the right notice and, if needed, an application to the LTB, which holds a hearing and issues an order. Timelines and hearing backlogs are a real factor in any Ontario tenancy dispute.
