    Credit Report

A record of how someone has managed credit, held by a credit bureau.

A credit report is a bureau's record of a person's credit history: accounts and their payment history, balances and limits, inquiries, and any collections or public records. Canada has two nationwide bureaus, Equifax and TransUnion, and their files are not always identical. Everyone is entitled to a free copy of their own report from each bureau, and errors are common, so it is worth checking and disputing them before applying for a rental or a mortgage.

General information only, not legal, tax, or financial advice. Rules change and vary by province; confirm the current details with the relevant authority before you rely on them.
